Yoga has helped keep my life level for 25 years. When I started practicing at Yoga East in 2007 I had no idea how important this shala would become to me. I've been teaching and maintaining one location or another for the last 18 years, and I've seen a variety of students and teachers pass through. I see how our yoga school lights up the teacher trainees, and how a regular yoga practice benefits everyone, the same as it's done for me. Please make a donation to Yoga East during Give For Good Louisville next week on Thursday, September 10. I think this reading for September 10 by Swami Muktananda in Resonate with Stillness explains our relationship to the folks in the Greater Louisville Community:

Whatever a person considers valuable for himself, he should give exactly the same thing to others, to society.

One should find out what is good for oneself, and one can discover that from the examples of the great beings. What you want to do for yourself, do for others also. If there is a conflict between your duty to yourself and your duty to others, that means you have become involved in some sort of self-deception.

To want the same thing for yourself and others, and to help others achieve those things, is your duty to society. You should think that you are society and society is you. Live and act in society following the footsteps of the great beings.
