APH Production Team

Since 1858, APH has operated in Louisville, Kentucky as the world’s largest nonprofit organization creating accessible learning experiences through educational, workplace and independent living products and services for people who are blind and low vision. Through the Factory Tour at The Dot Experience, visitors will step onto APH’s active production floor to discover how braille books, tactile graphics, accessible educational materials and other products are carefully created.

Along the way, visitors will see that accessibility does not happen automatically. It takes skilled people, thoughtful collaboration, specialized technology, close attention to detail and a commitment to quality at every step. From embossing braille to producing tactile graphics, binding books, and so much more, APH’s Production team creates more ways for people to learn, explore and participate in the world around them. 

The Factory Tour brings this work to life through a hands-on experience that invites visitors to touch, explore and better understand the people and processes behind accessible materials. It also shares how people access information in different ways, and providing those choices creates more opportunities for everyone to learn and participate.
