Jeffersonville Township Public Library
History
This year, 2025 marks the 125th Anniversary of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library. Founded, and located in Jeffersonville, Indiana; the library has weathered multiple expansions, 100-year floods and began serving added community locations in 1955 with a bookmobile; expanding into a second, Clarksville, Indiana location in 1975.
As part of the 125th Anniversary celebration, the library is grateful to have received gifts, grants and a $3.6 million-dollar, Clark County bond issue to further its vision of remaining a vibrant cultural and educational, community destination that welcomes everyone to gather, engage, create, learn, and grow; with a mission to connect people and ideas through experiences, technology, and information in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
Campaign
Just as the Jeffersonville Township Public Library used a bookmobile to facilitate expansion to a second location; enormous community growth in Jeffersonville again necessitates providing library benefits to new, underserved areas of Clark County. Acquisition of a bookmobile is made possible with a $250,000, Library Trustee, bond issue appropriation, coupled to additional funds from crowd funding, grants and Give for Good.
To assist the library in acquisition of a bookmobile, the Jeffersonville Township Public Library Foundation is participating in Give for Good. This important, bookmobile acquisition will assist serving senior, assisted living locations; new home subdivisions; and subsidized housing facilities; with a stretch goal of an eventual, third location for the Jeffersonville Township Public Library.
Hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Give for Good returns on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Early Giving Starts on September 15, at Midnight EDT, with Late Giving Ending on Friday, September 19 at 1 p.m. EDT. The main event is Thursday, September 18, 2025 from Midnight to 11:59PM, EDT.
The JTPL Foundation is especially appreciative of Samtec Corporation, the Jeffersonville City Council, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the Indiana Southeast Small Business Development Center, Indiana University Southeast and the Ann Disher Estate for their prior contributions.
