River City Revue is fundraising for the Bard's Town!
River City Revue has been a special part of Louisville’s creative community since 2016 thanks to the shared vision at The Bard’s Town. What began as a free reading series in the lounge has grown into a dynamic platform for poets, writers, musicians, and teaching artists of all kinds.
And we get to keep that vision alive with your generous contribution!
During the global pandemic, we adapted by moving online to host performances, workshops, and readings from The Bard’s Town that reached audiences near and far. Since then, we've brought the arts directly to the people with pop-up events, book launches, and community-centered workshops. We've helped artists create and lead their own workshops, given poets and writers a stage, and built bridges across artistic disciplines.
Now, our friends at the Bard are working diligently to open in the new space on Burnett Ave, which means more local arts for our beautiful city!
This Give for Good Louisville, we’re supporting The Bard’s Town so we can continue (with your help!) to uplift local voices of our thriving community.
The Bard is back!
Since it opened in 2010, The Bard has:
Produced 19 world premieres
Commissioned 72 ten-minute plays by Kentucky playwrights
Mounted 32 full-length plays by Kentucky writers
Paid over $110,000 in stipends to local artists
Hosted 400+ weeks of theater, comedy, improv, and more
Produced more plays by women and hired more first-time female directors than any other Kentucky theater
Now, we’re reopening in a newly renovated space—an old church located between Paristown, Germantown, and Old Louisville. But we need your help to finish the final stage of construction and reopen our doors!
