Hi, Friends,
My name is Ariel Graney and I have some tea to spill! My story began in “The Big House,” otherwise known as Luther Luckett Men’s Prison. I was rescued from my life as a lost pup by Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue, where the wonderful people there restored me to perfect health. I’m a large gal with a big, fluffy coat to match so sometimes I eat a lot and shed a lot. But my sweet personality and gentle nature won me a transfer to the Paws Behind Bars Program at the prison. There, 12 men with special skills care for and train 12 dogs in the hope that each dog will find a forever family.
My trainer taught me to be polite, to not bark too much, to always be gentle, and to learn how to be a good companion. He also taught me some cool tricks to impress my visitors.
Fast forward to my new family! Mom learned about a group called WAGS (Wonderful Animals Giving Support). She knew I was a calm and loving dog and wanted to share me with others.
I had to learn a whole lot about being a WAGS Ambassador Team with my mom, Terry. I passed my registration, and we were off and visiting. These days we visit The Ashton Senior Living on Dorsey Lane and UL Hospital, Shelbyville.
But my very favorite visit is the Muhammed Ali International Airport where I sashay my way down the concourse and let my hips swing! Several of my other best WAGS friends and their moms join us in this great adventure.
I know and love those TSA agents who call me by name and give me lots of pats as we go through security. Sometimes they even spend extra time patting the tags on my pretty collar! My other friends, the airline agents, often sneak a quick break to come over and give me hugs. Mom and I visit all the travelers coming and going, so we can make new friends, share a smile, or wipe away a tear.
While Mom and I love our WAGS Family, we rely on special friends like you to support our mission of compassion and kindness. You help us to help others.
With Sloppy Kisses (that’s me) and Hugs from Mom,
Ariel and Terry Graney
