WAGS St Josephs' Team Fantastic Fundraiser

A wagging tail and warm snuggles have a way of bringing smiles, lifting hearts, and spreading joy. This is the work of the furry friends of St. Joseph's Children's Home. Twice a month, WAGS Pet Therapy of Kentucky sends ambassador teams of canines and their handlers to St. Joe's. Their job is simple yet vital: to bring healing, hope, and joy to members of the community who are most in need of unconditional love.

St. Joe's Residential Treatment Program is home to forty-eight children between the ages of six and sixteen. Through trauma-informed care and education, they begin their healing journeys, develop healthy coping skills, and learn about self-love, respect, and resilience. Visits from the WAGS teams give these children the opportunity to experience deeper healing through the love of a four-legged friend who is equally as excited to see them.

St. Joe's is just one of many facilities throughout Louisville and southern Indiana in partnership with WAGS. WAGS is a nonprofit volunteer organization that utilizes the bond between humans and animals to assist with and enrich mental and physical health and healing. Ambassador teams visit schools, hospitals, airports, and more, seeking to promote health, independence, and quality of life. 

As members of the ambassador teams at St. Joe's, we have seen firsthand the impact WAGS pets have. In every visit, we witness the meaningful difference made in the lives of these children through the comfort and connection of a therapy dog. 

The work we do through WAGS is not possible without your support. We have decided to raise funds to help continue the mission and work of this organization. Your donations will help WAGS recruit and train new teams, provide continuing education, and invest in community outreach. There are so many facilities waiting to partner with WAGS therapy teams.
