What does it mean to reimagine Democracy when civil rights are under sustained, relentless attack, when there is a growing willingness to normalize conduct that previous generations would have found disqualifying for leadership, when faith in public institutions is crumbling? 

Democracy has been unequal and imperfect. We are living through an erosion of the institutions that have shaped the basic terrain. We must declare that our nation become something else. We cannot be limited by what we’ve known. We must envision a future beyond the present.
