Help Me Bring AHOY to Life for Louisville’s Kids

I’ve proudly served on the Portland Museum’s Board of Directors since 2018, and during that time, I’ve had the opportunity to help turn an ambitious idea into something real: AHOY—Adventure House of You.

AHOY is being created to give children in Louisville’s West End a fun, safe, and welcoming place where they can play, explore, learn, and use their imaginations. It will also celebrate the history, creativity, and character of the Portland neighborhood and the families who call it home.

This project is especially meaningful to me as a father. When I think about AHOY, I think about my daughter, Rylan, and the kind of experiences I want every child in our community to have—the freedom to be curious, the confidence to dream big, and a place where they feel like they belong.

This year’s Give for Good campaign will help bring AHOY’s interactive exhibits to life. These hands-on experiences are being designed to encourage creativity, exploration, learning, and play while connecting children to the stories and culture of Louisville’s West End. It’s a one-of-a-kind project that captures exactly what AHOY is about: imagination, adventure, local history, and a boatload of fun.

After years of planning and hard work, AHOY is coming to life—but we still need the support of our community to finish the journey.
