What's good y'all, I'm Tay G, board member of CTCT. I am also a farmer, cultural worker and community organizer. Although I have lived in Louisville since a teenager, I was raised on a dairy and tobacco farm in rural Kentucky. Taylor and I met at the University of Louisville and have continued to weave our organizer efforts together since graduating. After returning from farming in the pacific northwest, I started to invest into urban agriculture in the city. I joined the board of CTCT in 2023 and have been doing my best to keep up since then.
It's hard for me to pick a favorite program or event as they all fill a specific gap in the ecosystem we are building with our community in West Louisville. From the West End Farmers Market, the trend setter for markets on this side of ninth street, to the success we've had changing city policy with the grow in your neighborhood program, CTCT is changing the conditions of the community, with the community, in a way that few other organizations do. However, my favorite thing about CTCT is the leadership it supports developing for the folks at the table. Not only have I seen folks move from being served, to serving others, to staff, I have also witnessed our people grow their own organization though partnership. I myself was pushed into the position I have with the National Black Food & Justice Alliance because of my relationship to this organization and its leaders. Taylor Ryan is always looking to elevate the people around her into a better position in life and succeeding in that regard.
Change Today Change Tomorrow is such an asset to the residents of West Louisville. It is setting a new standard for community based non profits in the city. It truly is one of few organizations building power with our community and wielding that power for our benefit.
