$10,000 goal

Every dollar you give today through Give for Good Louisville will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. One day. Doubled impact. For what's coming.

Queer Kentucky is the only LGBTQ+ newsroom in Kentucky. And what's coming is the General Assembly.

We are rolling directly out of an election and into a legislative environment that will determine who controls the state house and what the next two years look like for LGBTQ+ health access and rights in Kentucky. This is not a gap between news cycles. This is the news cycle.

Last year, the Kentucky General Assembly considered ten specifically anti-LGBTQ+ bills. They tried to ban trans teachers. They pushed legislation that would have stripped protections from some of the most vulnerable people in this state. The community held the line and defeated every single one. But it gets harder every year - and the work of keeping our community informed, prepared, and able to show up gets more critical every year.

69.9% of LGBTQ+ Kentuckians report negative mental health impacts from anti-LGBTQ+ policy debates. 28.5% report increased suicidal thoughts linked directly to anti-LGBTQ+ policy debates in Kentucky. (2025 Queer Kentucky Community Health Survey, n=559)

Civic journalism is not just important for our community. It is life-saving. When someone knows before they walk into a doctor's office that a bill passed and their benefits have changed, that matters. Keeping people informed is survival.

This May, a Kentucky bill got misreported internationally. The story went viral. Queer Kentuckians were scared and confused. We stepped in, got the facts right, and got it corrected fast. That's what real-time, on-the-ground General Assembly coverage does. That's what today's match helps fund.

Here's what your gift funds:

  • Full General Assembly coverage, from legislative preview through final vote
  • 3 in-person legislative preview events across Kentucky, so our community understands what's coming before it arrives
  • A dedicated bill tracker, updated every day the General Assembly is in session

$5,000 raised - with the match, this becomes $10,000 total - two full months of coverage. The bill tracker goes live. Reporting starts before session does.

$10,000 raised - the full match is claimed. $20,000 total funds four months of General Assembly coverage, from preview events through the final vote.

$15,000 raised - $25,000 total. The full session, fully funded - every bill, every hearing, three preview events, and reporting through the final day of session.

All the attention goes to federal races. What actually impacts queer lives day to day is the state legislature. That's what Give for Good is covering. That's what today is for.

Our people are under attack. We are bulking up. And we cannot do it without you.
