Louisville Rowing Club (LRC) is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to growing the sport of rowing and creating opportunities for people of all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds. Based on the banks of the Ohio River, LRC brings together youth, collegiate, and adult rowers who share a love of the sport and the community that comes with it.

What makes LRC special?

- Rowing is for Everyone: From middle school introductions and competitive high schoolers to adult rowers and Learn to Row programs, there is a place for rowers at every stage.

- Growing the Sport: In 2026, 27 adults learned to row through our Summer Learn to Row program, and 30 7th-12th grade students attended our Summer Learn to Row camps. Our Juniors program now includes 43 athletes from 19 different schools across Jefferson and Oldham Counties.

- Athletic Excellence: Our Juniors have made two Youth Nationals appearances in just five years, and six former athletes have gone on to row at the collegiate level.

- Community & Volunteerism: LRC is powered by its members and volunteers, creating a community that extends well beyond the boat.

- A New Louisville Tradition: In October 2026, LRC will host the inaugural Derby City Head Race, bringing hundreds of rowers and their families to Louisville's waterfront.

Why it Matters

Rowing is more than a sport. It teaches perseverance, teamwork, accountability, and the value of working toward something together. It is a sport that can be discovered as a child, continued through college, picked up for the first time as an adult, and enjoyed for a lifetime.

As LRC continues to grow, so does the need for the equipment, facilities, and resources that make rowing possible. Many of our boats are decades old, and maintaining safe, functional equipment is an ongoing challenge. Your support helps us invest in our fleet, oars, safety equipment, facilities, training opportunities, and the experiences that bring our rowing community together.
