Our Mission

To recruit and support foster and adoptive parents for children in state care, provide assistance to adoptive families, and equip youth who are waiting for adoption or transitioning to independent living.

Home Is Here

For a foster child waiting to be adopted, home is more than a place. It’s belonging. It’s safety. It’s the feeling of being seen, valued, and loved. At Wednesday’s Child, we believe every child deserves to know that Home Is Here, right here in Louisville, within families who are ready to open their hearts.

Many foster children are reunited with their biological families, but some cannot be. Through no fault of their own, these children are navigating life without the stability every child deserves. Yet they all share one dream: to be adopted by a loving, devoted family. They long for a home where they feel secure, supported, and cherished.

You can help make that dream real.

Since 1980, Wednesday’s Child has helped thousands of Kentucky children find their forever families. But many are still waiting. We believe that there are no unadoptable children - only families yet to be found. With your support, we can continue showing children that home isn’t far away. Home Is Here.

Home Is Here for Every Child - Including Those Not Yet Up for Adoption

Our Holiday Party celebrates local foster children who are not currently being considered for adoption. These children share wish lists with us through their caseworkers, and Wednesday’s Child shops for each child individually. Every gift is wrapped with care and delivered to the Holiday Party, where children enjoy pizza, games, laughter, and the joy of opening presents chosen just for them.

This event is one of the many ways we show children that home is not just a place - it’s a feeling of belonging, and that feeling is here for them.

Help Us Bring Home Within Reach for More Children

Our goal is to expand our outreach beyond Louisville Metro and share more success stories across Kentucky. Every dollar helps us reach families who may be ready to adopt, support children who need stability, and remind foster children across the Commonwealth that Home Is Here - waiting for them, cheering for them, believing in them.
