Bernheim is 100% visitor, member, and donor-supported. Every trail walked, tree studied, and child inspired is made possible by people like you.

Supporting Louisville and Surrounding Communities

  • We plant trees in underserved neighborhoods.
  • Design and maintain green roofs that reduce urban heat and stormwater runoff
  • Grow and distribute fresh produce to food-insecure residents
  • Expanding access to nature in urban areas

Connecting People with Nature

  • Maintain 40+ miles of hiking trails and a 600-acre arboretum
  • Hands-on environmental education for 10,000+ students, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
  • Engage 300,000+ annual visitors through festivals, school programs, and Playcosystem, a 17-acre natural playground

Protecting Natural Areas

  • 13 stream headwaters provide clean water to local communities
  • Critical habitat for wildlife species including golden eagles, beavers and 230 species of birds
  • Providing climate resilience, biodiversity, and environmental education.

With your help, Bernheim thrives. Let’s do this—together.
