WHY ACTORS THEATRE MATTERS TO ME
Theater has transformed my life. Through every curveball life has thrown my way – and there have been many! – theater has been an outlet for me to express my voice, process challenging emotions, and develop my skills as an artist. My roundabout career as an actor, director, and writer prepared me for the role I'm in now, and for what is now my fifth season, I proudly serve on the communications team at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
I joined during a particularly challenging period in the organization's history. Indeed, the recent pandemic years and their aftermath have been a crucible for the entire industry. However, what has allowed me to persevere is the sure knowledge that Actors Theatre of Louisville offers truly exceptional work and does it in an accessible and radically hospitable way.
I can honestly say that I have been proud of every single production that ATL has produced while I have worked here, and I don't think that's a common thing to hear from an employee at an arts organization. From Party People to Loving and Loving to Mrs Krishnan's Party to the return of a multi-actor production of A Christmas Carol and to the production of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery that has opened this very week, I remain in awe of what this small but mighty team can do and the talent we can collaborate with to make the magic on our stages. That's not to mention the countless outreach and learning events we offer this community I love and have called home for nearly 30 years.
Now is a pivotal, transformational moment for Actors Theatre, and I encourage you to hear it from someone whose life has been transformed for the better in some of the ways mentioned below: Please consider making a gift today. One of our goals today is for 250 individuals to donate. Whatever amount feels right to you, it is all a benefit!

This Give for Good Louisville, I’m asking you to join me in supporting Actors Theatre. Every gift helps keep live theatre thriving in our community and creates more opportunities for people to experience the connection, joy, and belonging that the arts provide.
WHY GIVE TO ACTORS THEATRE?
- Regular participation in cultural events is associated with a 32% lower risk of depression.
- Engaging with the arts just a few times a year is associated with a 14% lower risk of premature death.
- The arts give us a place to gather. Chronic loneliness can have a significant impact on our health — the U.S. Surgeon General compares its effects to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
