One passion I have is participating in LOU (Louisville Outreach for the Unsheltered). I serve on the board for this organization, assist with grant writing, work as LOU's donation coordinator and go out on cold serves to deliver life saving supplies and attempt to get people into shelters on the coldest nights.
Give for Good Louisville is coming up on Wednesday, September 18th, and this is our biggest day of the year to raise awareness and support for Louisville Outreach for the Unsheltered (LOU).LOU is a volunteer-driven nonprofit working every day to serve our unsheltered neighbors with dignity, compassion, and respect. Through weekly street outreach, LOU provides 30,000 sack lunches each year, clothing, and hygiene kits. During extreme cold or heat, we deliver lifesaving items like blankets, gloves, water, and pet food. We help people obtain IDs(159 this year), access housing resources, and connect with care management. We also step in when families are left without options, providing emergency shelter and supplies until longer-term housing is secured.
I am asking you to make a donation to LOU where every cent donated goes to supporting a person experiencing homelessness. Another important support is spreading the word through sharing this page on your social media accounts. You can help by amplifying the voices of our unsheltered neighbors and showing that compassion and dignity matter.❤️
