Louisville Grows (James Russell Bushong)

More than a decade ago, a friend invited me to volunteer at a Louisville Grows tree planting. I was immediately hooked. There is something incredibly rewarding about working alongside neighbors and volunteers, planting a tree at someone’s home, and seeing their excitement knowing it will grow there for decades.

Since then, I’ve served Louisville Grows as a Citizen Forester, board member, and community outreach volunteer, helping lead volunteers in planting hundreds of trees across Louisville. Today, Louisville Grows has planted more than 8,000 trees throughout our community.

What I continue to appreciate most is the community-driven nature of the work. Louisville Grows doesn’t simply arrive in a neighborhood and plant trees. It works with residents, develops local volunteers and leaders, and gives people the knowledge and resources to care for their own corner of Louisville.

I’m proud to support an organization whose impact I’ve been able to see firsthand. During Give for Good Louisville, I hope you’ll join me in supporting Louisville Grows and helping create greener, healthier neighborhoods across our city.
