Everyone needs something to champion.

I stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Day Spring nearly four years ago with the anticipation of being a part of a significant mission. I found out quickly as I developed relationships with our residents that the mission statement isn't something intangible or seemingly out of reach. The mission is about people. People who need a champion.

To champion something means to publicly and actively support, defend, or fight for a cause, person, principle, or belief. It involves being a strong advocate, enthusiastically backing, or standing up for something or someone.

I never could have imagined how deeply personal the Day Spring mission is to me.  The mission of Day Spring is to provide a path forward for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through services that cultivate hope, belonging, and community. Our residents need more people committed, willing to defend, advocate, and sometimes make a sacrifice on their behalf so they can have basic rights to live life abundantly and full of opportunities.

I may not be able to change the title on my name badge from "CEO" to "Champion", but I can surely try to maximize the impact from my position to inspire others towards positive action, not passive approval.  My inspiration comes from the people who call Day Spring 'home', like Kim (in picture). I would fight on her behalf all day long.

Please join me in sacrificing something ( skip a meal, a subscription, or a shopping trip for a new pair of shoes) and join me to give generously towards championing the mission of Day Spring on Give for Give 2025!
