I Give Because I’ve Seen the Difference!

I’ve had the privilege of watching Whitney M. Young Scholars grow—not just academically, but personally and professionally. These students don’t just succeed; they thrive. One scholar in particular, Alpha, stands out. I met him when he graduated from high school and was headed to Berea College, my alma mater. That connection sparked a bond that continues to this day.

Since joining the program, Alpha has made incredible strides. He’s studied abroad, shared photos of his journey, and even asked for help designing a t-shirt for his basketball team. He told me, “Had I not gone through this program, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” That hit home.

 Supporting Alpha and other scholars like him is deeply personal for me. As a graduate of both Lincoln Institute and Berea College, I see myself in these students. I give because I know what’s possible when someone believes in you—and I’ve seen firsthand how the Whitney M. Young Leadership Initiative makes that belief real.
