For the past six years, I have had the privilege of working alongside hardworking people our small staff, dedicated volunteers, and the neighbors we serve at United Crescent Hill Ministries.
Every day, UCHM helps individuals and families meet basic needs. I have seen the relief on someone’s face when rental or utility assistance helps them remain stable for another month. I have watched a mother’s anxiety ease when she receives food for her children from the UCHM Market and seen an older adult on a fixed income find hope through emergency assistance.
These moments are both heartwarming and heartbreaking. A sudden illness, unexpected car repair, or other emergency can make it difficult for hardworking people to make ends meet—even when they have done everything they can to stay afloat.
I have also witnessed the joy and sense of purpose our volunteers experience while making a meaningful difference. Without them, we could not serve nearly as many neighbors as we do. Through our 60+ Senior Program, I feel especially fortunate to help combat loneliness, depression, and isolation while watching friendships form, and our seniors enjoy a genuine sense of community.
For these reasons and so many more, I am asking my family, friends, and colleagues to support UCHM on September 10 during Give for Good Louisville. Please consider making a donation and sharing our campaign with others.
Now, more than ever, we need one another. Your gift will help UCHM continue serving hardworking people and families throughout our community.
United Crescent Hill Ministries is the safety net. Our four-day-a-week food pantry gives neighbors a place where they can find groceries. Our rent and utilities assistance means families can stay in their homes with the lights on and water running. Our program for seniors creates connections for people who, too often, can find themselves isolated and alone. Our children's programs give kids safe place to play and learn.
United Crescent Hill Ministries does all of that and more. For more than 50 years, we have worked to be the safety net for our 40206 neighborhood and Louisville.
Now we're asking you to be our safety net. The $30,000 we raise in this campaign, means we will be able to meet the needs of nearly everyone who comes through our doors. Last year, we had to turn away about 500 people when we ran out of funds.
By being our safety net, you're saving a neighbor.
