Carpe diem! Tomorrow, Sept 19, I celebrate my 80th birthday! Many of you know about my 27 years of work with A Fund, the all volunteer non-profit that helps KY women pay for abortion and contraception. I thought I'd ask my friends and acquaintances to make a small gift to A Fund, in honor of my birthday and various milestones I have passed along the way! Below are a few:
- 27 Years on A Fund's board, most of them as Secretary or President!
- '45 The year of the Bomb. Yes, Kate is as old as the Bomb...
- '63 Graduated from Presentation Academy -- where the Sisters of Charity taught me to think for myself!
- '69 Date of my first birth control pills -- Thank you Dr. Ron Levine, may his name be a blessing.
- '75 Childless by choice -- Thank you Dr. Mac Wolfe, a pioneer and leader in repro rights for women, founder of EMW Clinic, along with Drs. Eubank and Marshall.
- '78 Awarded law degree after 4 years of night school.
- 0 Number of unintended pregnancies.
We are all in this together, as we work to protect abortion access for everyone. A Fund, Inc. has been helping Louisvillians pay for abortion since 1993. Now we help not only Kentucky residents, but also our neighbors in Indiana and Tennessee. The whole Southeast region lacks easy abortion access and prices for travel and abortion have increased. The good news is that the word is out and we are helping Kentuckians from Paducah to Paintsville! Thanks to your kind gifts, we can do it!
