For nearly six years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Louisville Grows to make Louisville greener, healthier, and more connected-and I’m asking you to help me keep growing.

Over the years, I’ve helped plant and distribute more than 4,000 trees across Louisville and connect thousands of residents with trees for their own homes and neighborhoods. But what means the most to me isn’t just the number of trees. It’s the people and places behind them.

 It’s watching volunteers come together to transform a block. It’s seeing neighbors take pride in a tree they helped plant. It’s knowing that a tree planted today can provide shade, cleaner air, beauty, habitat, and relief from extreme heat for decades to come.

I’ve seen firsthand that trees can do so much more than grow. They can bring people together, make neighborhoods more welcoming, and help create healthier places to live.

And there is still so much work to do.

Louisville needs thousands more trees to build a healthier, more equitable urban canopy. Louisville Grows is working block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood, to make that possible-planting trees, giving them away, caring for them, educating residents, and creating opportunities for people to get involved.

I’m proud to have spent almost six years doing this work, and I’m even more excited about what we can accomplish next.
