Here's my story with science!
- Those who know me well know that to this day, I'm a kid in a candy store whenever I got to a science museum, and that's thanks to the Kentucky Science Center. It's instilled a permanent sense of curiosity in me. I always want to know how something works and why it works that way. It's just as important to the natural sciences as it is to my work with people! Curiosity about people is fundamental to becoming an excellent storyteller and it's why I've been effective in my 10-year broadcasting career. I've spent most of that covering sports, so it's nice to keep in mind that physics shows up quite literally all the time. Fostering that curiosity in others is why I'm so thrilled to be working with the Board of Directors.
- My favorite place to find science in our city is at the banks of the Ohio River. The McAlpine Locks & Dam are an engineering marvel, but the simple act of sitting by the river and observing it has been scientifically found to be good for your health. The calming effects of being at the water trigger a relaxation response in our brains. It can lower our heart rate and blood pressure! It's something small, but the little things are the big things in life!
This year on September 18, I'm excited to be participating in Give for Good Louisville to raise funds for Kentucky Science Center's Annual Fund for Science.
I'm aiming to raise $1000 to support Kentucky Science Center's overall goal of $35,000.
Funds raised will support our Annual Fund for Science, providing ongoing support for education programs and initiatives including:
- $500 supports Pulse of Surgery for a class of 25 students.
- $300 takes one Science Expo to children’s and families’ neighborhoods.
- $139 supports one family with a Community Access Membership.
- $21 supports one student's field trip admission to our Flagship Facility.
You can help support Kentucky Science Center's Annual Fund for Science by:
