United Crescent Hill Ministries is more than an organization to me. It's a vital part of my community and a place I've been proud to support for many years.
I first became involved by dropping off food pantry donations, often with the help of generous coworkers who collected items to give. Back then, I usually saw a handful of older adults visiting the pantry, and there were rarely lines. Today, the need is much greater. Nearly every time I visit, I see families lined up for pantry assistance or help with rent and utility expenses. That reality reminds me just how important UCHM's work is.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to serve in many ways, from helping St. Leonard volunteers prepare meals for more than 100 clients each month (and while I'm definitely not much of a cook, I can package meals and wash dishes with the best of them!) to spending time at the center's senior programs. Whether it's bingo, live music, or a little karaoke, the joy and connection these programs bring to seniors is something special to see.
One of my favorite ways to support UCHM is hosting Mahj for a Cause each month. Such a great group of folks gathers for some great mahjong, fun, and giving back. Through donations and small participation fees, we help stock the food pantry and support UCHM's mission. I love that the center opens its doors to bring people together, create connections, and give everyone a chance to have some fun while helping their neighbors.
Please join me in supporting United Crescent Hill Ministries during Give for Good. Your gift helps provide food, housing assistance, senior programs, and hope to our neighbors who need it most. Every donation, no matter the size, has a meaningful impact right here in our community. ❤️
United Crescent Hill Ministries is the safety net. Our four-day-a-week food pantry gives neighbors a place where they can find groceries. Our rent and utilities assistance means families can stay in their homes with the lights on and water running. Our program for seniors creates connections for people who, too often, can find themselves isolated and alone. Our children's programs give kids safe place to play and learn.
United Crescent Hill Ministries does all of that and more. For more than 50 years, we have worked to be the safety net for our 40206 neighborhood and Louisville.
Now we're asking you to be our safety net. The $30,000 we raise in this campaign, means we will be able to meet the needs of nearly everyone who comes through our doors. Last year, we had to turn away about 500 people when we ran out of funds.
By being our safety net, you're saving a neighbor.
