Join Sarah in Supporting Breakthrough Louisville

Support Breakthrough Louisville as they continue to provide essential out-of-school time programming for underserved middle school students while training the next generation of diverse and effective educators! The work Breakthrough Louisville does to support our students and enrich our teacher pipeline is CRITICAL to supporting and improving the education eco-system in Louisville. Your support will sustain their current impact and fund efforts to allow the program to accommodate more students!

Sarah's Why:  I've spent 35 years in education, and I’m proud to be on the board of Breakthrough Louisville. Their mission—to expand educational opportunity during the summer, build academic confidence, and inspire future teachers—matters more than ever.

This past summer, I witnessed our Teaching Fellows in action: teaching math and English, hosting career day, organizing a poetry slam, and even guiding a student-run lemonade stand. What struck me most was how these experiences, alongside rigorous academics, help students see new possibilities for themselves.

Nationally, Breakthrough served over 10,000 students last year, placed more than 1,000 college-age Teaching Fellows in classrooms, and reported that more than 70% of students maintained or improved their reading or math skills over summer. Being part of this collaborative gives us access to outstanding training and proven programming.

At the same time, Breakthrough Louisville relies almost entirely on local dollars to operate. Every donation directly supports students here in our community, keeping our program strong and growing.

As part of Give for Good Louisville, I hope you’ll consider joining me in supporting Breakthrough so we can keep delivering meaningful academic gains, building future teachers, and providing life-changing experiences in our community.
