Hola friends & fam!
Did you know Columbine happened when I was a sophomore in HS? From there, school shootings increased in frequency and I became more vocal about my anti-2A sentiment. My fights with FB "friends" (aka kids I knew in middle school) also grew in frequency. Then in July of 2012 there was a mass shooting at a movie premiere in Aurora, CO. One of my good buddies from elementary school who grew up in the same tiny speck-on-the-map town of Lake(less) Los Angeles died protecting a friend. His name was Jesse Childress and he was only 29. That absolutely gutted me. All those years I hated guns and I hadn't taken any tangible steps to stop mass shootings from happening.
That's why today, I made my donation to Whitney/Strong, a non-profit organization I am incredibly proud to support during this year's Give for Good Louisville campaign.
Your donation of $5 or more will help fund Whitney/Strong's mission to find common ground to end gun violence through data-driven, responsible gun ownership solutions.
Today's the day you can turn your complacency into action. Together we can turn heartbreak into hope.
This isn't just about a donation. It's about being part of the solution.
We can do better and we will do better together.
