Guaranteed Pay for Our Artists!

The greatest resource The Chamber Theatre enjoys is our artists.  We have been fortunate to work with talented, inspired, and hardworking actors, designers, musicians, directors, and others, who have typically agreed to create theatre with us without any guarantee of compensation for their time or skill.  Being able to work with artists has given the company the ability to grow and produce daring work.

The Chamber Theatre is a company that values high-quality work in intimate settings, that strives for theatre that takes risks.  We rely on income beyond ticket sales in order to be able to compensate our artists. We want to reward the artists who place their trust in us, so we are working towards better compensation.  

The Chamber Theatre is an artist-forward organization.  In 2024, we worked with over 30 artists in different roles; in 2025 it will be over 40.  While ensure that our performers get at least a share of the profit, we want to step towards guaranteeing compensation for all our artists ahead of production.

In our 2026 Season, we anticipate engaging 35 or more different artists once more.  This year - tenth in our existence - we want to make good faith promises of minimum compensation ahead of auditions.  To this end, whatever we raise on this campaign will be earmarked for the compensation of artists.  If we beat the target, we give more to our artists; if we end up using fewer artists, we will spread it around more - whatever happens, this money will go to artists.  

We aspire to raise $12,250, which will allow us to give everyone who works with The Chamber Theatre in 2026 a guaranteed minimum of $350 in compensation for their services.  It is a lofty goal, but while we have focused on small scale productions, the work that our artists put in is certainly worth an ambitious fundraising goal!
