Hello friends,
I am so excited to share that this year, I’m raising funds and awareness for Kentucky Harvest during Give for Good Louisville – our city’s biggest day of giving!
Since 1987, Kentucky Harvest has been rescuing perfectly good food that might otherwise go to waste and delivering it to nonprofits that serve families, children, and seniors who need it most. To date, we’ve rescued more than 88 million pounds of food – that’s millions of meals saved and shared in our community!
This mission is close to my heart because wastefulness has always bothered me, especially knowing how many people in our community struggle with something as basic as having enough to eat. I’ve been blessed to never have to worry about where my next meal was coming from, and it breaks my heart to think about families—and especially children—who do. At the same time, we see an incredible abundance of food every day in our grocery stores, restaurants, clubs and businesses, much of which might otherwise go to waste.
That’s why I joined the Kentucky Harvest board this year. I want to help make sure that good food gets put to good use and that fewer of our neighbors have to worry about going hungry. I’ve seen firsthand how something as simple as a rescued meal can mean the world to someone who’s struggling. It’s about more than food – it’s about dignity, hope, and neighbors helping neighbors.
Here’s the best part: thanks to the Papa John’s Foundation, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000. That means your gift goes twice as far to keep our trucks on the road, rescuing food and fighting hunger every single day.
On Thursday, September 10, I hope you’ll join me in this 24-hour giving celebration. Together, we can make sure no good food goes to waste and no one in our city goes hungry.
Donate on my page and please share with family and friends!
Thank you for believing in this mission and being part of the Kentucky Harvest family. Let’s do something amazing together!
With gratitude and excitement,
Eric Gunderson
